Job description:

The Front Desk Manager position is created in order to act as a bridge between the Front Desk Assistants (FDAs) and the Housing & Residence Life professional staff, aiding in the supervision and guidance of the front desk and its staff. FDMs manage the daily operations of the front desk, selects, trains and supervises Front Desk Assistants (FDAs). They live on campus which allows them to be physically available whenever any matter at the desk requires attention. As such, FDMs work closely with FDAs, provide training, supervision, and report back to HRL professional staff on a regular basis. An FDM is a very knowledgeable individual when it comes to desk functions and the areas of work that pertain to the resident body as well as general building management. As a result, they will find themselves working hand-in-hand with staff in the HRL administration offices, facilities department, Residence Hall Coordinators and student staff.

Qualifications required:

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student at HBKU or at one of its partner universities (except for ABP)
  • A minimum of 2.5 GPA
  • Must have worked/be currently working as an HRL front desk student staff
  • Commitment to work a full academic year (beginning of Aug 2016 to mid-May 2017) (this may include Eid breaks, winter break and spring break)
  • Extremely organized with excellent communication, teamwork and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to balance academic work, university activities and FDM responsibilities
  • High proficiency in spoken and written English
