Job description:

 

  • Support editorial staff in the administration of the commissioning, planning and production of books
  • Support editorial staff in management of books submissions and publications using HBKU Press article submission and review servers.
  • Maintaining contact with reviewers, authors, editors and contributors and tracking progress of publishing projects
  • Liaising with Production team members to ensure internal systems and platforms are correctly updated and to ensure all accepted research and commissioned content is published on schedule.
  • Coordinating with HBKU Press partners for content translations and copyediting/proofreading
  • Other general administrative tasks: taking minutes during editorial meetings, and other administrative task as appointed by Head of Academic and Journals.

 

Qualifications required:

Good organisational and document management skills

Good communication skills

Good IT skills: Experience of working in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook; Knowledge of basic HTML coding desirable

Good analytical and report writing abilities

Knowledge of Arabic language desirable

A team player, working in a highly international environment

A thoughtful, careful approach, with a good eye for detail

A familiarity with the publishing industry is desirable but not essential
