Job description:

The Resource Promotion Specialist will be responsible for increasing the usage of electronic resources and the circulation of physical resources.  The successful candidate will consult with library staff to select key resources and to develop promotional strategies that increase our community’s awareness of these resources.  These strategies may include the display of physical items; the use of a variety of communication methods to raise awareness of available resources (e.g. posters, web, social media, email); and/or the use of other strategies (events, etc.).  The specialist will be responsible for developing a marketing plan and strategy and then for implementing the plan.  The specialist will also be responsible for measuring the success/impact of initiatives and reporting regularly on these measures.

Other administrative duties in the library – such as shelving, scanning, photocopying, and printing – may be assigned as needed.

This position is 15 hours per week and timings are flexible, although must be spread over at least 3 days per workweek, Sunday-Wednesday between 8am-8pm, and Thursday between 8am-5pm.  Fridays and Saturdays are not available.

Qualifications required:

The Resource Promotion Specialist should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and strong organization and time management skills; be proficient with productivity, graphics, and publishing software; and understand how to set up, manage, and post to social media accounts.

A strong GPA in business, information systems, writing, design, and/or communications courses is required.  Interest or prior experience in marketing, promotions, or advertising is a plus, but not required.

Fluency in written and spoken Arabic is a plus, but not required.
