Job description:

Communications Assistant:

Support the event-related activities of the office, liaise with Qatar Foundation in uploading public events. Work with updating contact lists for the distribution of internal and external communications. Assist with the organization of events, including maintaining a contact database, manage, assistance with branded items, assist with event administrative tasks such as label and invitation printing.

The assistant will assist with social media strategy and management (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn) as well as photo library management, translation projects, Arabic and English proofreading, and assistance with managing branded merchandise.

The communications assistant will assist the department team with tasks such as creating flyers for events, obtaining information to post on social media platforms and assisting with the annual marketing photoshoot around Education City.  

The assistant will also help with various other tasks that come up in a dynamic office environment that serves an entire campus. This could include: helping coordinate an event, taking photographs, meeting campus guests, giving building tours, answering general inquiries, liaising with other departments, branded items database. Additional responsibilities will include making updates to the alumni database and coordinating with Student Government for upcoming student club events and themes at Thursday Majlis.

Qualifications required:

Communications Assistant: A Carnegie Mellon student that possesses excellent English and Arabic written communication and interpersonal skills, strong organization and time management skills. The assistant should be interested in learning about marketing and communications, and be flexible with regards to work hours.  Working knowledge of Adobe Suite is preferred. Must have knowledge of social media platforms and their functions.
